Is their any ANSI requirement that requires a hard hat to remain on the head in a given wind speed?

"High" winds are common occupational safety hazards.
UK folks have optional chin strips, but no mandate to use them.

I love my shocking pink hard hat. When I have to go out in the yard to take a message or get one of the crew they can spot me from a half mile away. They start coming in so I don't have to trudge out in the weather. I don't have to worry about anyone stealing it either.

At this point the cost of chin strap is not so much my concern. The strap usually comes with a disclaimer stating that they don't guarantee to keep the hard hat on in high winds etc. The chin strap plastic hooks are easily broken and the strap is not comfortable for perlonged use, or is it an attractive piece of equipment. It has been proven in the utility industry that if the safety equipment is comfortable durable and looks cool it will be worn.
MY VERSION OF HTE PERFECT HEAD PROTECTION for utilities, chin strap permanently mounted on hard hat, hard hat Class E type 1, wide brim with short peak on front, capable of attaching hearing protection and two types of face sheild clear and mesh.

I work on aircraft and frequentle work in areas where I am always looking up with a headlamp and ear muffs for hearing. The bump cap will fall off my head with all this equipment. I told my employer I would provide my own baseball style bump cap to keep if from falling off. My employer told me to "attach" it to my head so it would not fall off. Sounds dangerous and like a violation of OSHA safety standards. Can anyone steer me in the right direction on this?

Hi, I am a Union President and really am looking for a simple answer. When it comes to safety is there really any difference between a bump cap and and insert? Neither is OSHA or ANCI approved. So I figured there is no harm in either being issued. I believe they are doing so for show....being if they wanted true protection they'd go for something that was safety approved. Your reply is greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time.

I work in heavy highway construction. Everything on the site pretty much, can be a potential hazard.

Having sustained a head injury a few years ago while on the job. Aside from the nine stiches and concusion. My full brim hard hat save my lfe!!

I was never fond of the cap style cap, even though every company you work for gives you one, on your first day. I have always felt that it gave the least amout of protection a few ways. Poor coverage from the sun and rain.

Reguardles of who I work for I bring my own full brim hard hat, and pass on the new company cap style.

Most professional construction works wear the brown full brim fibre hard hats.

I wanted something that offered the same protetion but differant. I also never work around electricty.

So I ordered up a new yellow Skull bucket and extra sweat bands.
